Irrfan Khan, Guest of Honour of the 2013 Festival

Irrfan Khan was born in 1962 in Jaipur, in India. At the age of twenty two, he manages to obtain a scholarship and joins the National School of Dramatic Art of New Delhi.
In 1987, the young Irrfan Khan begins his career by playing secondary roles in theater and television. He plays his first leading part for cinema in the first full-length film of director Mira Nair, in "Salaam Bombay" which is obtains the Golden Camera and the Prize of the Public in 1988.
The young actor then participats the television series "Banegi Apni Baat" and becomes very popular in India.

Heplays then the main role in Maqbool by Vishal Bharadwaj, an adaptation of Macbeth taking place in Mumbai. His interpretation does not go unnoticed. Irrfan swipes almost the totality of the prizes in the different Indian Film Festivals.
In the movie of "Tigmanshu Dhulia, Haasil", he is again applauded by the criticis and the profession.

In 2003, the young comedian crosses the borders of his country and plays in "The Warrior" by the British director Asif Kapadia. This historic movie is distinguished as the Best Movie of year 2003 by the British Academy Award of the best English Movie and gives Irrfan Khan international fame.
He moves on then with the British drama, "Partition" by Vic Sarin (2005), in which he plays beside Jimi Mistry, Firn Campbell and Kristin Kreuk. One year later, he shoots ubder the direction of Hasnain Hyderabadwala, in his movie "The Killer".

Il jouera ensuite dans le film Kosher vegetarian aux côtés de Nathalie Portman. Irrfan surprend dans le film Life in a metro (2007), où il incarne le rôle d’un homme amoureux.
La même année on le retrouve dans Un Coeur Invaincu, un thriller de Michael Winterbottom, aux côtés de Will Patton, Archie Panjabi, Angelina Jolie.
Dans cette adaptation cinématographique du livre de Marianne Pearl, il incarne le Capitaine chargé des recherches autour de la disparition de Daniel Pearl.
Un an plus tard, il tourne dans le film de Wes Anderson aux côtés d’Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody,Jason Schwartzman et Angelica Huston, A bord du Darjeeling limited.
En 2009, on le retrouve à l’affiche de la comédie Slumdog Millionaire de Danny Boyle, où il interprète le rôle de l’inspecteur de police aux côtés de Dev Patel, Mia Drake et Freida Pinto.
En 2012, son interprétation du héros Pi adulte dans le film de Ang Lee, La vie de Pi, l’impose plus que jamais à l’international.

On one year later, he shoots in the movie of Wes Anderson besides Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman and Angelica Huston, "The Darjeling Limited".
In 2009, we find himin the comedy "Slumdog Millionaire" by Danny Boyle, where he plays the role of the lieutenant beside Dev Patel, Mia Drake and Freida Pinto.
In 2012, his interpretation of the grown-up Pi in the movie of Ang Lee, "The life of Pi", imposes him more than ever on the international stage
