Synopsis:
The very first film in Indian Cinema.
King Harishandra sacrifices his kingdom, wife and children in order to honor a promise to the wise Vishwamitra. The Devas, happy with the king's high morals, will restitute his past glory to him.
Réalisateur / Director:
Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, born in 1870, is the very first Indian director and producer. Considered as the Indian Cinema's father, he however retired early, disappointed with the way cinema was turning commercial and by the change in audiences' taste. He dies in 1944.
